ANSI Codes

The American National Standards Institute is the U.S. Organization that publishes standards and codes for many popular lamp types. Lamps with a 3 letter code (ELH, DED, etc.) are considered ANSI codes. Lamps that share the same code, regardless of the manufacturer, will have the same basic specifications. These letters are arbitrary, and have no significance in the discription of the lamp.
